About Us

Social Sciences Research Services (SSRS), provides an integrated system of
support for funded research projects, particularly in the areas of data
collection, management, and analysis. SSRS emphasizes integrated
services, efficiencies in staff and technical resources, and lower costs
of constructing applications and systems by building on previous work.
Related projects or parts of projects inform each other, use common tools
and staff expertise, and contribute to the continuing development of
support as well as to the wider community of researchers at Yale.

SSRS Goals:

  • Provide technical support throughout the research, publishing, replication, and archival processes.
  • Provide project management services to research projects with intensive technological requirements.
  • Identify and apply high standards of data documentation and data management to Yale produced research data for research and instructional applications.
  • Develop a model of support services, technology, staffing, design principles, and usability.
  • Develop a reservoir of staff with social sciences data management and programming expertise to provide technical support for research projects involving complex data collection and management tasks.
  • Build a model online interactive archive of Yale produced social science research data sources, linked via the WWW to researchers, archives, publications, and other databases worldwide.
  • Researchers interested in the services of SSRS should contact Ed Kairiss, Director, at 203-432-6637.
