The need for research services:

Faculty across the social sciences face growing challenges when developing substantial databases, analytic or modeling facilities or other technology-intensive research and teaching programs. The technical requirements of these programs are increasingly complex, often driven by the challenges of undertaking sophisticated data collection and analysis and integrating heterogeneous data resources. Collaborative research, often global in nature, requires researchers to provide real time access to resources from secure technologically advanced environments. Visualization tools, geographic and spatial applications, and hyperlinked resources are becoming standard components of the research process.

SSRS Services include:

--over all technical support, particularly in statistical data base applications, throughout the research, publishing, replication, and archival processes.

--project management services for research projects with data intensive requirements.

--support for the design and implementation of Internet-based data collection, access, and analysis systems.

--a growing reservoir of staff with social sciences data management and programming expertise supporting research projects involving complex data collection and management tasks.

--an emerging interactive archive of Yale produced social science research data sources, linked via the WWW to researchers, archives, publications, and other databases worldwide.

Researchers interested in the services of SSRS should contact Ed Kairiss, Director, at 203-432-6637.
